- What I learned about my potential:
When I was in my 20s, I moved to a new city and studied at university there. When I had my first placement, I spent a lot of time and effort building relationships with people in that organization because my mentor at university told me that having good relationships with people that I meet during my placement will help me find a job after graduation.
I graduated from university and immediately I had offers from casual jobs that I applied for online. At that time, someone from the organization where I had my first placement offered me a full-time job, so I said yes to that offer – it’s a full-time contract which should be more stable.
Sadly, that full-time job turned out to be the worst job that I’ve ever had in my life, so I left that organization after working there for a year. Then I immediately received job offers from significantly better organizations – I didn’t know anyone from these organizations, but they want to hire me based on my resume and what I said during job interviews. Clearly, I shouldn’t have underestimated my potential. Now when I look back on that experience, I have realized that I should have trusted my intuition because I knew something was wrong even when I was still doing the placement there. But I chose to ignore my intuition, and I only listened to someone else’s advice at that time. If I didn’t accept that full-time job, I could have had a few really good casual jobs while starting my own freelance writing business in my free time earlier.
I’d like to share my lesson with you here because I believe my lesson will help you with your life, including your love life. It should also include your values, i.e., what’s important to you? Make sure you put your mission statement somewhere you can see every single day.
Second, set three goals and then create several rituals that you will do every day to achieve your goals.
Last but not least, be a student of life and prioritize personal development. Learn new skills. Read more books. Hire coaches or mentors because you don’t have to do this alone.
