I know many Slavic women who have something in common: they genuinely believe
in frugal hedonism – that’s their philosophy in life. Please let me explain.
- What is frugal hedonism?
A frugal hedonist enjoys life thoroughly without spending a lot of money. This person highly values enjoyment in life while saving money because it is clear that lots of happiness in life doesn’t cost much money (and sometimes it’s literally free).
Indeed, Slavic women are very different from western women. In western countries, people buy too many things all the time, so a large number of resources are regularly wasted. By contrast, in Eastern European countries, people tend to save their resources intelligently without compromising the quality of life – as a matter of fact, research shows that they actually enjoy life even more.
Most Eastern European people that I know are minimalists (not all of them, but at least 50% of them): they don’t need a lot of clothes, shoes or bags; they don’t eat desserts or junk food snacks; they don’t watch Netflix.
For example, Olga grew up in Ukraine where people appreciate the importance of saving money for the future. She comes from a traditional family. She makes her own clothes and cooks her own meals at home. She has very traditional values.
Instead of going out for coffee in order to catch up with friends, Olga just invite her friends to her place and chat with them at her kitchen table (she makes very delicious coffee and hot chocolate at home for her friends).

- Why do so many Slavic women believe in frugal hedonism?
People from Eastern Europe understand how hard they have to work in order to achieve success in life because they don’t come from western countries where abundance is everywhere. In a way, that’s good for their mindset and attitude in life because Eastern European people cherish what they have more.
Better still, Eastern European people are generally not surrounded by consumerism; many of them don’t even use Instagram to watch what other people are showing off online. As a result, they live a relatively simple and healthy lifestyle.
Meanwhile, Eastern European people know how to have fun as so many of them enjoy music, art and literature. They are aware of what this world has to offer, so they don’t miss out on joy at all.
“Healthy hedonism is good for your life. I hope you and your Slavic girlfriend build a sustainable & satisfying romantic relationship together.”
