Slavic women have very good taste, as evidenced by many of my Eastern European friends who have a profound understanding of interior decoration. If you are going to marry a Slavic lady, you may want to make your house a real home that you are proud of and totally love & enjoy.

How to choose the right furniture for the space that you share with your Slavic wife:

Most furniture isn’t cheap, so you’d better have a plan, thereby knowing what you want and what you need.

Many years ago, I had a mentor who told me to buy things I need only and never buy things that I want. I followed her advice for several years, and then I realized something: Although only buying things that I need is a good strategy to save money and it’s very important to understand the difference between what I need and what I want, if I buy what I want, I will actually use that item very often; therefore, buying what I want isn’t necessarily a bad idea.

Here is a Slavic woman’s advice: If you are going to buy furniture which will be used frequently, you should spend more and buy a high-quality product; however, if you are looking to buy a trendy item, maybe you would be well-advised to spend less by purchasing it via a much more affordable source.

This theory can be applied to other areas of your life as well: If you’re purchasing clothes and/or accessories that you will wear/use every week or even every day, perhaps you can spend that extra dollar & get a better-quality jacket or bag. Yet if it’s simply a ‘trendy’ thing, then you may dial it down and buy it online.

Make the key furniture stand out.

If you go for a specific look such as French provincial, you can buy a furniture set which has that particular style. But ideally, mixing and matching materials is a much better idea. For instance, pairing a fur cushion with a leather sofa can balance out your space and generate a unique feel. What’s more, combining furniture sizes and shapes leads to unity, harmony as well as aesthetic because you don’t really want to copy others – you want to be original and creative. You might splurge on one product such as a couch or an armchair that you really love and make it the focal point in your space, and then save on other things in the room.

Choose the right textile for a home that you build with your Slavic lady.

Personally, I really like rugs because they give an extremely comfortable feel to a room. Also, rugs have a wide variety of purposes, e.g., hallway rugs, dining room rugs, living room rugs and bathroom rugs.

Furthermore, cushions are great items at home because they make any room feel homely and full. Let’s say you have a room with amazing artwork on the wall, you may enhance some of these patterning, colors and textures in your cushions. Likewise, if you have many harsh lines and boxy shapes in your space (which is quite commonplace in modern apartments and houses), maybe you could add a relatively round cushion to this mix in order to combine shapes, thereby adding variety to your space.
