A recent survey shows that there are many more single men than single women nowadays. Why are so many men single now?

Why are so many men single these days?

Because of social media, most people have some sort of online presence in today’s day and age. That means the top 10% of men can get the majority of women in his community. Meanwhile, the attractive woman in your local area can be discovered by some modeling agency online and move to a big city, so she wouldn’t date the attractive guy in your local area.

What’s more, a few decades ago, people used to go to work while interacting with other people at work very often. However, in this day and age, most people simply sit in front of a computer (and a lot of them actually work from home). As a consequence, interactions with other people in real life have become less common now. Indeed, several decades ago, people could find partners at their workplace, but in the 21^st century, this is less likely to happen.

In addition, in the past, the third place played a key role in people’s daily life, i.e., coffeehouses, restaurants, etc. The third place refers to the place where people can go to apart from their work and home. Yet nowadays people don’t go to cafes and restaurants very frequently anymore as ordering takeout on the phone is easy and watching Netflix at home is nice.

As a result, in this day and age, more and more men are single. That’s why online dating has become necessary.

How to successfully navigate online dating:

When I was a retail salesperson many years ago, I used to wear bright colors with unusual print, which was a way to make customers want to talk to me because many customers would say, “I really like your outfit.” & “Where did you get this top from?”

In a social context, I would wear something quirky (e.g., a statement necklace or an extremely beautiful scarf) so that what I wear becomes a conversation starter – other people would comment on my style, thereby initiating a conversation.

Now let’s implement this strategy in online dating. You would be well-advised to upload multiple photos on your dating profile. One of your photos should be something that makes women curious about you so they will ask, “What’s that?”

For example, Joseph’s dating profile has a photo of him wearing headphones in a record shop (Who still goes to a record shop & where can you even find a record shop these days?!) I’m sure video stores / record shops will make women very curious about Joseph.
