When I was in my 30s, I worked in the menswear fashion industry for several years. Therefore, I have a good understanding of men’s fashion which is also something that I’m very passionate about. Today I’m going to write about how fashion can significantly improve your confidence, thereby helping you to succeed in online dating.

Know what to wear.

When I was a salesperson in the menswear fashion retail industry many years ago, a colleague who was 17 years younger than me was interested in a jacket that I was selling, but he told me that he already had a similar jacket. Thus, I said to him, “This jacket’s collar is different and there is a pocket square.”

“You can sell water to fish and ice to Eskimos,” he said.

As a result, I was emphasizing the topping of the coffee while trying to sell that jacket to a colleague. If I actually wanted to push that jacket, I would even say, “This is The Great Gatsby style because of the vintage collar and the pocket square” as I know he loves vintage glamor.

The next day my colleague told me that I was a very confident salesperson.

“You are so confident,” he said.

“Where does confidence come from?” I asked him.

“It comes from the heart?” he was guessing.

“Confidence comes from competence,” I replied, “I’m confident because I know what I’m doing. I’m confident because I’m competent.”

Okay. Speaking of fashion, do you know what you are doing and what to wear?

I’ve met some men who don’t know that T-shirts are less formal than shirts, so I’d like to offer some fundamental knowledge about menswear fashion here:

First of all, T-shirts, denim, and anything that you would wear in the gym is casual clothes.

Second, polo shirts are more formal than T-shirts.

Third, shirts are more formal than polo shirts.

Next, shirts with hidden buttons are more formal than shirts with clear buttons.

Lastly, darker colors look more dressy than light colors, so navy and black look more dressy most of the time.

You need to know these because if you are going to join an online dating site, you’ll meet your lady in person one day – you don’t want to disappoint her by showing her a wrong first impression on the first date.

By the way, you don’t have to buy expensive clothes in order to impress a lady. Instead, you can buy affordable clothes and accessible luxury from reputable brands & you will look good and feel great. Another helpful idea is to buy less but buy better. That means rather than buying 20 cheap outfits that don’t inspire you, you’d better buy 5 high-quality outfits that make you look seriously amazing.

How external confidence influences inner confidence:

Let’s have a look at this analogy: When you live in a beautiful environment like a home decorated by an interior designer, the quality of your life is higher because you feel better at home and you love the space you live in. If you live with your partner, the phenomenal interior design can improve the quality of your love life as well because the wonderful ambiance makes your mood more positive.

Similarly, when you dress well, your external confidence is boosted instantly. When you look fantastic, you also feel more confident, which means your inner confidence is boosted, too.

I’m sure when you feel confident, you will find online dating more enjoyable because your inner confidence will certainly help you find real love in record time.
